A colored man named Homer Plessey was arrested for sitting in a "white" car. -
19th Amendment
Any American citizen male or female has the right to vote, they cannot be denied by their gender. -

This was the end of military segergration by executive order. -
Brown vs. Board of Education
Mr. Brown a concerned father, faught against the Board of Education in order for his little girl to be safe while walking to a closer school. this started to segregate schools. -
Rosa Parks refuses to give up her seat
Rosa Parks was an African American women who refused to give up her seat to a white man on a bus so she was arrested, thus starting the montgomery bus boycott for a whole year. -
Montgomery Bus Boycott
Starting in 1955 goin all the way into 1956 black and white Americans didn't ride on buses for a whole year so they would force the mayor to intergrate the bus system. -
• Civil Rights Act of 1957
the Civil Rights Section of the Justice Department and empowered federal prosecutors to obtain court injunctions against interference with the right to vote. -
24th Amendment
made Poll tax illegal so that African Americans could actually afford to vote. -
Civil Rights Act of 1964
outlawed segregation in businesses such as theaters, restaurants, and hotels. It also banned discrimination in public places like swimming pools, libraries, and public pools. -
Voting Rights Act of 1965
Guaranteed African Americans the right to vote. This bill made it illegal to deny any African Americans the right to vote. -
Civil Rights Act of 1968
this act provided for equal housing opportunities regardless of race, creed, or national origin.
