    North Korea swept across the 38th parallel in a surprise attack on South Korea. S.K asked the U.N to intervene.The same month that N.K took over Peninsula MacArthur launched a surprised attack. Half of N.K surrendered and the rest retreated. UN pushed them near the Yalu River at the Chinese border. Chinese felt threatened, they sent troops & outnumbered the UN forces. They pushed UN and NK out, then Mac Arthur sent an attack. UN & NK signed an cease-fire agreement.

    Hungarian army joined protesters to overthrow Hungary's soviet-controlled government.Budapest mobs waved the Hungarian flags with the communist hammer and sickle emblem cut out.

Leader Khrushchev began to build a 42 missile sites in Cuba but then a spy noticed the site. President John F. Kennedy said any missiles close to the U.S is a threat. He demanded removal & announced naval blockade of Cuba to prevent the soviets from building missiles.

Czech's communists loosened controls on censorship to offer his country socialism w/ " a human face". On August 20 armed forces from the Warsaw Pact nations invaded Czech.
