    Winston Churchill went to United states in 1946 was highly concerned about Soviet aggression in eastern Europe. The iron curtain is the division between capitalist in western Europe and communists in eastern Europe. He wanted America to take a higher role in the Soviet Aggression.

    The British government informed the United states that it could no longer furnish the economic and military assistance it had been providing to Greece and Turkey since the end of the world war 2. This was because both nations were threatened by the Soviet Union. This happened on February 1947. The Soviet Union were demanding power on Turkey, and for Greece leftist forces had been battling the Greek royal government since the end of world war 2. So the British told the United states to do this.

    The Berlin Blockade was made by the Soviet Union, they did this because they wanted to limit the ability of France, Great Britain and the United States to travel to their sectors of Berlin which is right next to east Germany which was occupied by Soviets. They stopped anything's going in Berlin so they could potentially start asking the Soviets for support. But the United States, France, Great Britain were sending planes every 30 seconds they got supplies and survived for 3 years.

    The Marshall plan was that United states gave more than $15 billion to help the western Europe side to recover from all the damage that was made after world war 2. This happened on 1948, when they meet up and signed the deal of a 4 year plan.

    After World War II, the Allies finally defeated Germany and it turned into a Soviet-occupied zone, an American-occupied zone, a British-occupied zone and a French-occupied zone. Berlin was the German capital city and it was located in the Soviet zone but it was divided into four sections. In June 1948 the Russians who wanted Berlin all for themselves closed everything railroads and streets.

    NATO is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization which was established by the US and Western Europe following World War II. It originally just twelve countries the United States, Canada, Britain, France, Italy, Belgium, Denmark, Portugal, the Netherlands, Norway, Luxembourg, and Iceland. These countries agreed to come to help each other, by the USSR and the Warsaw Pact.

    The Chinese Communist Revolution of 1949 was a revolution in China that was led by the Communist Party leaders of China and most importantly Mao Zedong which resulted in the upspet of the people of China on October 1st, 1949. They did this because the country was in terrible shape and they wanted to repair alot of stuff that the country needed. This was the start of a New China.

    On 1950 north korea sent 75,000 soldiers across the 38th parallel. The invasion was the first military action of the cold war. North Korea overpowered south so the united nations had to join in the war. By july the us sent troops to support south korea. America worked hard to try and get north korea out. When South started to get north back china came in and helped north out, but by 1953 the war came to an end 5 million soldiers died during the war.

    A national emergency that began 12 days before in Hungary was crushed by Soviet tanks and troops on this day in 1956. Thousands were killed and wounded and nearly a quarter-million Hungarians fled the country. This was because they protested against the Soviet Union, so they did this to show they are more powerful.

    The Soviet union launched the first satellite in space, it was called Sputnik 1. This made the United states fall back on the cold war and they looked bad after the Soviets sent the Sputnik intospace, everyone was just waiting to see what the United states were going to do next. Soviet did this in order to gain a lead in the cold war. This accomplished this by making the first satellite that cant be sent to space.

    The Great Leap Forward planned to develop agriculture and industry. Mao believed that both had to grow to allow the other to grow. Industry could only work out if the work force was well fed, while the agricultural workers needed industry to produce the modern tools needed for modernisation. To allow for this, China was reformed into a series of communes.

US President said ¨his decision to enact a naval blockade around Cuba and made it clear the U.S. was prepared to use military force if necessary to neutralize this perceived threat to national security.¨ This states that the us were ready if anything happened

    War started on 1964 when the north wanted to make south communists but the south didnt want to, so the north sent troops to the south and he started to attack the south then the us joined and helped the south, Soviet union, China and North Korea started to help the north, the war was a long fought war and about 3million soliders lost there life.

    China´s leader named Mao Zedong launched an event cause he wanted reassert his authority over the china government. Mao Zedong gathered people that were good with him even family members like his wife to help him get power back in the government and overthrow it.

    On August 20, 1968 the Soviets had approximately 200,000 Warsaw pact troops and 5000 tanks invade Czechoslovakia to crush the "Prague Spring". Czechoslovakians students and intellectuals began to agitate for changes to education and an end to censorship. So the Soviet union invaded. There tanks were too powerful protests that they did didnt help, so they just had to give up.

    US was behind on the space race, so in order to regain the lead they founded a program called NASA and they started a program called the Apollo, this program was to build a powerful rocket to 100% land on the moon. The first successful one was 1968.
