The Cold War was important to history because the Cold War took about 50 years from start to finish, 1945 to 1989. The Cold War impacted politics because after the war the Soviet Union took over East Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. -
