    Began after the aftermath of ww2 when tensions between the Allies and the Soviets that lasted from 1947 to the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991

    After their railways and roadways were blocked, the Allies had to fly in supplies to the west Berliners, over two million people

    The war, a product of the cold war rivalries between the U.S and the U.S.S.R, begun when the north invaded the south. The North was backed by communist China and Russia, the south was backed by the U.S. The war was responsible for the deaths of nearly 5 million people.

    After being arrested for "espionoge", the Rosenburgs where later convicted with "conspiricy to commit espionoge" and were sentenced to death in April of that same year. All on the grounds of very little, very untrustworthy evidence.

    Under Operation Ivy, the U.S was the first to succesfully test a hydrogen bomb. It was tested on an atoll in the middle of the Pacific Ocean

    Overthrown by Fidel Castro, Cuba obtained him as their new leader, a leader that was fearless and was communist, one that hated America, and made friends with the U.S.S.R

    Four university men decided to sit-in, in protest, in a resterant well-known for there refusal in serving blacks. There protest kick started a chain of similar protests all throughout the south.

  • U-2 spy plane shot down

    While taking aerial reconnaissance photos deep into soviet territory, an American U-2 plane was shot down by Soviet Air Defense. The Pilot, Gary Powers, was imprisoned for espionoge and sentanced to jail time and hard labor

During his presidency, the Events leading up to, and the event of the Cuban Missile Crisis took place. He Was Able to keep a Nuclear Armageddon from happening by negotiating with the U.S.S.R to back down.

    Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin was the fist human ever to travel into space and orbit the planet in 89 min. This ment that the Soviets were the in the lead of the space race, which only heated up the Cold War.

  • Bay of Pigs Invasion

    1,400 Cuban Refugees attempted to storm their homeland, and over through the communist leader, Fidel Castro. The assult was planed by American forces and the refugees where trained by americans. Due to the lack of support, the invasion failed. The failed invasion only heated up the Cold War to escelade to become what is known as the Cuban Missile Crisis.

    The Cuban missile Crisis was the one event that heated up the cold war so much that it almost became a hot war, One that wold spell destruction for the world with nuclear arms. It all began when a U2 spy plane captured pics of Cuba with soviet offensive missiles. The chaos ended when both sides decided to back off with their nuclear arms aimed at each other.
