    President Truman promised plan to provide economic and military aid to any country facing a Communist takeover or Totalitarian ideology. This occurred due to the Soviet Union invading countries to transform them into a communist government.This policy would help towards the policy of Containment. This was essential because he changed American Foreign Policy and enabled the USA to get involved with European affairs; America escaped from isolationism.
  • Marshall Plan- This was a program of economic aid offered by the United States to any European country. This was established due to the ruling of Communism in Europe and to reconstruct the economy that the Cold War had impacted.

    The plan was rejected outright by Stalin and any Eastern Block country considering accepting aid was reprimanded severely. Consequently the aid was only given to Western European Countries. This was significant because the U.S. helped rebuild Europe by giving them money. This would increase foreign trade and prevent communism. Today, we have a good relationship with most European nations.

The Berlin Blockade was important because it was the first violent confrontation from USSR and the Cold War getting started. We now don’t have a bad relationship with Germany today.

The Berlin Blockade one of the first major international crises of the Cold War which makes it very important in the history era. This shows the American people or the audience from today that the influence of Communism was a common goal regardless of any obstacles that they need to do to succeed.

    The 11 member nations agreed to fight for each other if attacked. It is an international military force for enforcing its charter. This was established to defend member nations against troops in pro-communist countries. The United States also wanted to maintain a presence in Europe. This is significant because it promoted a fundamental goal to safeguard the Allies' freedom and security by political and military means. It promotes peace in our time as if now.

    This was a war with North Korea against South Korea and began when North Korea invaded South Korea. This war was like no other, it was the first armed conflict war in the Cold War era. It depicted the will of the U.S. to send troops to prevent the expansion of Communism. While Soviet Union sent troops to increase the influence of Communism. The Korean War divided South and North Korea into different sides which still remains today; the 38th Parallel.

    The Warsaw pact was a military alliance between all of the communist east European countries, headed by the Soviet Union. It was established as a response to NATO. Members were to support each other if attacked. It was significance because NATO altered the balance of power in Europe in the West's favor. Therefore, Stalin needed his own rival alliance to ensure parity with the west. It’s important to note this because this pact showed Communist dominance and opposed American capitalism.
  • Hungarian Revolution- This was a Hungarian protest to end Soviet control in Hungary. It quickly gathered momentum and Soviet tanks entered Budapest.

This action forced the Eisenhower administration to increase defense spending and accelerate America's space program. It was essential because it created organizations like NASA and programs to people of the U.S. to increase the level of intelligence for technology that we partake today.

    Powers was sentenced to prison for 10 years but exchanged for a Soviet spy. This event is extremely important to the Cold War because it was one of the few times the Soviets did direct physical damage to an American. They saw that he was flying low enough to hit with a missile so they did. Then they kept Powers as a prisoner. This was huge in the U.S. because the Soviets were holding one of our men. This event, tensions between the Soviet Union and the U.S. continued to climb.

    President Kennedy set up a naval blockade and demanded the removal of the missiles, he dismantled it by not invading Cuba and remove missiles from Turkey. This event was extremely important because President Kennedy could have caused M.A.D. or a mass destruction within the U.S. grounds. It shows the people from today how there were other countries that withheld power and not just the U.S., in other words the Soviet Union. Where two superpowers could have cause nuclear war.

It was also essential due to the idea how it made JFK weak to its people because he didn’t stand strong against communism. This action notes to the American people of today that sometimes you can’t go by what others say for you to do, the CIA, and JFK learned this lesson in which saved America from a nuclear war in the future.

This was a huge event to the American people because it was, “...one small step for man...one giant leap for mankind” claimed by Armstrong. It was significant because it showed the American people and the world that the U.S. is now on track with the newest technology innovation and not behind anymore as the Soviet Union had done already. This puts pride in oneself who’s an American nowadays.
