    Kennedy sent U.S. troops to Vietnam
    Beginning in 1961, President Kennedy sent Special Forces troops to South Vietnam to advise the Army of the Republic of Vietnam on more effective ways to fight the communist forces. This revealed that the United States showed a more aggressive stand against the communists in Vietnam.

    Kennedy ordered the Bay of Pigs Invasion: 1,500 American-trained Cubans, called Brigade 2506, landed on the inlet of that name.The goal was to spark a widespread popular uprising against Castro, but no such uprising occurred.After twenty months, Cuba released the captured exiles in exchange for a ransom of $53 million worth of food and medicine. It shows the conflict of U.S. and the communists in Cuba.

  • Madman theory

    Madman theory
    The administration employed the "madman strategy" to force the North Vietnamese government to negotiate an end to the Vietnam War. In July 1969, according to a recently-declassified CIA report, President Nixon may have suggested to South Vietnamese President Thieu that the two paths he was considering were either a nuclear weapons option or setting up a coalition government. It led to the victory of the Vietnam War.
