    On march 5, 1946, Sir Winston Churchill delivered a speech at Westminster College about Europe being controlled by the soviet union. This speech was important because eastern and western Europe was being cut off by the soviet union. The Iron Curtain Refers to the separation of eastern and western Europe.

    The Berlin Blockade was the start of the cold war the soviet union blocked western allies railways, roads, and canals. The main cause of the Berlin Blockade was the Cold War, which was just getting started. This act closed off most of Berlins food sources and made it very hard for food to enter Berlin.

    The Soviet invasion spurred Jimmy Carter to issue an ultimatum on 20 January 1980, that the US would boycott the Moscow Olympics if Soviet troops did not withdraw from Afghanistan within one month. 65 countries and regions invited did not take part in the 1980 Olympics.
