    During the Civil War, this act was doctored in and it stated that any citizen that had never borne arms against the U.S government could claim 160 acres of land. This had a large impact on Native Americans. The U.Swas giving away land that wasn´t truly theirs.

    This was an Act passed by Congress that gave grants of land to different states in order to establish Colleges that specialized in agriculture or mechanic arts.

    This was a series of Acts passed by Congress that allowed the construction of the continental railroad. This granted land to the railroad companies in charge of this life-changing project.
  • Crazy Horse and Red Cloud, Fort Laramie Treaty

    Crazy Horse and Red Cloud, Fort Laramie Treaty
    An agreement between the U.S and the Oglala that recognized the Balck Hills as part of the Sioux Reservation. Once Gold was found there this was eventually broken and raided. The U.S group of soldiers were annihilated. Which only caused the U.S to seek revenge.

    Medicine Lodge Treaty, Chief Satanta
    A total of three treaties signed. This stated that whites were allowed to settle in the area, the railroad could come through, as well as it fixed the southern boundary of Kansas. Chief Satanta leads a group to massacre a wagon train. He was considered the most belligerent.

    The US's desire to own the sacred land of Native Americans called The Black Hills caused this battle. The US won which caused the Sioux to move onto a reservation.

    When the Sioux and Cheyenne left their reservation due to white being settle and involved with their sacred lands at The Black Hills it caused this battle. The U.S tried to rush in and attack not knowing the number of Sioux got annihilated.

    Chief Joseph believed in peace, he was trying to keep his family and friends safe. There were three young Native Americans who massacred a group of U.S soldiers and in fear of retaliation he surrendered.

    This was a name given to Native Americans who migrated from the states along the Mississipi River to Kansas. It was the first migration of African Americans following the civil war
  • Dawes Severalty Act

    Dawes Severalty Act
    This act gave the government the ability to have complete control over Native American tribes. They would treat them like individuals instead of a tribe as a whole to weaken the tribal government.
  • Massacre at Wounded Knee

    Massacre at Wounded Knee
    A group of U.S soldiers surrounded a group of Native Americans during a Ghost Dance ritual and told them to surrender their weapons. There was a stray shot fired that caused the U.S soldiers to just kill everything in sight. Over 300 Sioux women, children, and men were killed during. This is what broke their spirits. It wasn't worth the fight if they're families were being massacred.
