  • The Battle of Bull Run

    The Battle of Bull Run
    The union marched to the federal capital of Washington D.C. to strike at confederate troops. After fighting defensively for the first day the confederates rallied to flank the union which ended up making them fall back and lose the first fight of the Civil War.
  • The Battle of Fort Sumter

    The Battle of Fort Sumter
    After the south seceded from the north not long after the union were occupied at a place called Fort Sumter eventually they were running low on supplies. After Lincoln announced he would be sending some more supplies to the troops confederate general P.G.T. Beauregard bombarded the fort. After hours of bombardment from both sides Anderson and his men gave up the fort.

    This battle was one of the first major victories. Brigadier Ulysses's S. Grant decided to attack a lightly defended fort so that they could control the supply lines west of the Appalachians.

    After the battle for fort Henry Grant moved his forces to take Fort Donelson next the fort tried to repel Grants forces but they got overwhelmed this was another massive win for the Union.

    The battle of Shiloh started off with the confederates flanking the Union troops. Eventually the union soldiers prevailed and fought back the confederate soldiers and this ended up in another union victory
  • Battle of Antietam

    At dawn of September 17 1862 one of the most bloodiest battles happened it all started when the confederate general units moved to both the right and center flanks while general John G. Walkers troops joined the confederates on the left side. After hours of fighting Lee's men were sick and tried but they waited and watched for McClellan to fall into his trap. When they fell into Lee's hands the Union took major casualties this made them have to fall back again.

    This battle was fought on December 13-15 in 1862. Burnside's plans was to cross the Rappahannock River and try to race to the confederate capital of Richmond, Virginia so that he could stop the war. But what ended up happening is the union made it through the first front of the confederate troops but stone wall Jackson held the union until they fled and lost the battle.

    Battle of Chancellorsville
    This was one of Lee's most accomplishing victory's because he split his army in half because he wanted to flank the enemy to cause a surprise attack. This worked out successfully which this ended up having the union retreat and losing the battle.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    After Lee's win at Chancellorsville he went to go invade the north again. His goal was to gain recognition from European countries so that they could initiate a peace agreement. That was the opposite of what happened at Gettysburg since Lee's scouts didn't do their jobs this had put lee at an disadvantage because he didn't know the land very well this is the only reason that the Union won the battle.

    The original fight started started in the spring of 1862 but didn't end until July 7, 1863 because both sides put up an amazing fight between each other. Eventually, the union prevailed and the east of the Mississippi was theirs for the taking.
