  • Brown v Board Education

    This case was one of the most important events for the start of the civil rights. This case of the Supreme Court decided that segregation in public schools was unconstitutional. The impact was that this case overrule the " separated but equal".
  • Emmett Till Murder

    Emmett Till Murder was the asassination of an African American. This kid was kidnapped and then killed, his body was found in a river. The impact of his murder was that this could happened to everyone of the African American community, so it became a reason to fight against segregation and civil rights.
  • Montgomery Bus Boycotts

    This was a non violence protest. In which African Americans stop using Montgomery Buses, so they protest about the rules of segregation on Buses. The impact was that they succeeded and the Court added establish that any segregation of laws in buses were a violation of the 14 Amendment. Also this begin the modern civil rights movement.
  • Little Rock Nine

    This was an event in which when the Broad vs Brown Education was put in practice. 9 African Americans students were going to enter to a white public school and the national guard block their entrance and force them to go home. The impact of this was that drag the attention of the government creating a federal vs state in which the federal stablished that federal laws needs to be followed
  • Greensboro Lunch Counter sit-ins

    Greensboro sit-in, act of nonviolent protest against a segregated lunch counter in Greensboro. They protest by sitting and make the business loss money, because at least they were spaces in which the white population could not be seat. The impact was that produced a new sense of pride and power for African Americans.
  • Freedom Rides

    a series of political protests against segregation by Blacks and whites who rode buses together through the American South. This was to protest against the segregation in the bus terminals. The impact of the Freedom Rides were that they succeeded the ICC solve the problem.
  • Birmingham protests

    Martin Luther King Jr launched a campaign of mass protests in Birmingham, Alabama, which Dr. King called the most segregated city in America. The impact of the Birmingham Protest were that drag the attention of the government because they were child which were protesting.
  • March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom

    The march was to put pressure to the government to initiate a strong federal civil rights bill in Congress. The impact was that the protest were effected because the government pass laws as the Civil Rights act of 1964 and voting right acts of 1965.
  • Freedom Summer

    Freedom summer was a campaign in Mississippi during the summer of 1964 to register as many African American voters as possible; this to help them vote and facilitate the way for them to vote. The impact of Freedom Summer was that it help to create the Voting rights act of 1965,
  • Civil Rights Act of 1964

    The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin. The impact of Civil Rights Act of1964 was that it outlawed discrimination in employment and public accommodations.
  • Selma to Montgomery marches

    These were marches to protest the blocking of Black Americans' right to vote by the systematic racist structure of the Jim Crow South. The Impact was that it was a reason why the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was passed.
  • Voting Rights Act of 1965

    The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was a bill pass by Congress which it provided for direct federal intervention to enable African Americans to register and vote and banned tactics long designed to keep them from the polls. The impact was that now African Americans were able to vote freely without any intervention or arbitrary decisions.
