    The Brown vs. Board act was made a national landmark when schools were no longer segretated. White kids and African American kids could now go to the same school. This act overturned the Plessy vs. Ferguson descion in 1896.

    Emmit Till is killed
    coolmath.com Emmit Till was killed in the year 1955 by two white men. The two white men kidnapped, beat, shot, and dumped Emmit in the Tallahatchie River for whistling at two white women. The two men were convicted guilty by an all white jury.

    The Rosa Parks story is one of the most famous stories during the Civil Rights Movement. On December 1st, 1955 was riding the bus when the bus driver tried to kick her out of her seat for another white passenger. Rosa Parks refused and became a famous figure for the Civil RIghts Movement.

    google Nine negro student were blocked from entering their school which was an all white highschool. President Eisenhower sent in the National Guard to intervene and get the students in. This historic event is now called Little Rock Nine.

    bing Throughout the spring and summer of 1961, student volunteers tried to test out laws that prohibited segretation travel by taking buses throught the south. The students would ride buses or trains trying to push their limit. Most times the students were attacked by mobs on the bus or trains.

    A big protest broke out in the spring of 1963. The cominisher of public safety used fire hoses and dogs to fight agaisnt the protesters. The fight was televised worldwide which gained sympathy from many people.

    200,000 people joined the march on Washington. They all met at the Lincoln Memorial. That is where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his I have a dream speech.

    Four young girls were killed when a bomb went off at their Sunday school. The church they were at was the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church. That was a popular location for meetings.

    President Johnson signs the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The act was the biggest legeslation since the Reconstruction. The Act prohibits any discrimination what so ever.

    Malcom X was shot to death in the year of 1965. People believe that the people who killed him were members of the black muslims. Which Malcom X had just abandoned.

    Martin Luther King Jr. dies at the age of 39. He was shot in his hotel balcony by James Earl Ray. This was a sad day.

    President Johnson passed the act that ended discrimination agasint the sale, rent, and financing in housing. This law brought alot more jobs to black people.
