This fits in with Erikson's eight stages of development. Since it's a gradual process it explains why it took me a year to take my first steps. It also fits within the sensorimotor stage of Piaget's stages of development. -
First word
This also fits in with Erikson's eight stages of development. At a certain age range is when babies first can understand and repeat words. -
First memory
This event fits into Kohlberg's stages of morality. I remember in kindergarten, when I was 5 years old, someone got in trouble and I understood that we needed to respect the teacher and be kind. -
Rode My Bike
This fits with Erikson's fourth stage of development. I began riding my bike without training wheels at around age 7. I was more competent in physical ability which fits into the stage 4 age range (5-12). -
Moved
At around age 12 my family moved from the house I had grown up in. I cried because I thought about all of the memories we had in that house, and all of the memories that we could make. At this point, I was transferring from concrete-operation phase, to formal-operational, and could think more abstractly. -
First Day of Junior High
This day was eye opening for me because I was surrounded by a lot of students my age and I could relate and talk to them all. This fits into Piaget's formal-operational stage. I began thinking rationally and relating to my classmates. -
First day of high school
When I began high school I came in contact with people my age and those 4 years older than me. It was a culture shock, but I liked it. Being surrounded by kids my age helped my formal-operational phase because all of the students encouraged each other to think abstractly. Kids told their stories and others could relate or they would try to, which, I think, makes us into better people. -
Almost got a detention
My freshman year I almost got s detention for opening the choir room door for people (not kidding). I have never had a detention or gotten in trouble in any way so this was a really bad thing for me. It fits into Kohlberg's stage of conformity. I wanted to please everyone and be a great student. -
My Parents Divorced
After my parents divorced I think I matured a lot. This fits into Kohlberg's theory of moral development. Because of this event, I am a different person and I have learned a lot. -
Graduation
Graduation is going to be a huge life changing event for me. I have grown accustomed to being surrounded by the same people for my whole life, and suddenly that will all change. I feel that this even will develop my universal principles because after high school I will attend college, and I'll be surrounded by lots of different people from different backgrounds.
