    The British tried to convince the Chinese to open up to trade with Europe.So, they tried to trade with China by use opium, but the Chinese realized that opium was dangerous and tried to stop the opium trade with Britain.This led to the first Opium Wars.

    As China weakened ,other countries saw an opportunity such as Japan, British, American, Portugal.Japan took control of Taiwan.Portugal took control of Macao.British and American had taken control of Trade in the area and economically controlled China.

    Nationalism grew because Chinese people wanted to be free from foreigners.So, Qing tried to make rebellion called Boxer rebellion , but it wasn't supported by Chinese people because Qing wasn't Chinese.Finally, the Boxer rebellion wasn't successful , and the Qing dynasty was deteriorated.

    The uprising itself broke out largely by accident. Revolutionaries intent on overthrowing the Qing dynasty were building bombs and one accidentally exploded. This led police to investigate, and they discovered lists of revolutionaries within the New Army. The provincial government and the Qing emperor panicked,fled and failed to respond for a crucial .Finally, Sun Yixian was chosen as provisional president.
