Salva got up and searched for his family but they weren't there.Then the old woman asked the rebels if Salva could join him since he was alone but they agreed.Then Salva left with food and water that the old lady have given to him. -

Salva had met a friend named Marial and walk along with Marial to Ethiopia which is the east of Sudan.Then at the end of the chapter he heard someone calling his name but it had not been Marial. -
Salva chapter 7
Salva found out that a lion killed Marial while was sleeping that's why Marial wasn't there when Salva's uncle woke Salva up to tell him that Marial had been missing until they found out he got killed by an lion because it had been hungry and it was looking for a prey that was motionless and small. -
Salva chapter 9
Salva and his uncle went to the desert and he hurt his bare toe on a rock and his nail got off. Salva ate a fruit that made him feel better.The conflict that happened in chapter 9 is character vs. nature because he got hut in the desert and stepped on a rock and cut his toenail off. -
Salva chapter 10
Salva is now in his third day of staying in the desert and is going to Ethiopia.They were running out if food so they cooked a bird.Then men approached with guns and Salva was scared of them and they were from the Nuer tribe.Two men took uncle to a tree and tied them to it and took there belongings including clothing and bags they carried.An important event that happened is that a man from the tribe shot uncle and killed him. -
Salva chapter 11
Question:2 Salva is still in Ethiopia and he is upset that now Marial and uncle are gone. Salva is still strong though his is still working hard to protect himself and finding food and water to eat and drink -
Salva chapter 12
Salva realized what his uncle meant his family has been killed.So now he is alone because his family and friends died. Salva is an orphan now and he is getting more stronger and confident. -
Salva's journey chapter 6
The person who had called Salva's name in chapter 5 had been Salva's uncle that he hadn't seen in two years.Salva's uncle had given the soldiers and salva food after weeks of starvation.Then in the night they were sleeping and Salva's uncle woke Salva up and Marial wasn't there. -
Salva chapter 12
Salva's camp is gonna close down.Now the men are driving them back to Sudan and everyone started running and getting worried about the gunshots,they were chasing hem toward the river. -
Salva chapter 13
Salva and a group of people were crossing the river with crocodiles in them and the soldiers had been shooting at them but a boy next to Salva protected him a put him underwater so he wouldn't get shot and the boy got shot cause he guarded Salva and he died.Now he has to walk to Kenya because Sudan is still going through war and his family might be there but he doesn't know if they are dead. -
Salva chapter 14
Salva is in Kakuma camp in Kenya.He spent years there and it wasn't a desert and wasn't allowed to leave and others stole from each other. -

Being there so long Salva has now learned how to speak English and his friend Michael taught him.Michael also taught him volleyball and told Salva that he was going to America to get a job and live healthier. -

Salva went to New York City and he had to get used to it and the the aid worker led the boys to different gates and helped them and gave them food,drinks and jackets. Salva was going to Rochester. -

Salva was the English language but found it confusing at the same time. Salva had thought they found his dad but he was wrong and he wants to visit Sudan but he knows there is still war going on there. -
Salva chapter 17
Salva found out some great news and found out that Mawien Dut was his real father and that his mom was still in Sudan back in the village.But then he found out his two brothers died Ariik and Kuol in a war with the Nuer tribe.Then Salva had to go back to America and say bye to his father. Salva had a project he had in mind and he wanted to do but he had to raise money for it.Then Salva presented his project in front of 100 people,then a couple years after. -
Nya
Nya came back from getting water and brought it to her family. Nya's mother took some and shared it among Nya,her little sister and her brother Akeer. Then Nya took her brother to the pond with her. -
Nya chapter 4
Nya came back from getting water and gave it to her family.Then her mother told her to take care of her sister and so she did,but then she had to go back and walk a long walk to get water again. -
Nyas journey chapter 6
Nyas tribe which is the Nuer are enemies with the Dinka tribe with is Salva's tribe.So Nyas brother and dad went hunting and the mom got worried and scared cause she was a afraid that the Dinka tribe might find them and kill them. -
Nya chapter 7
Nya found out that her sister Akeer had not been feeling well so they went to the doctor and the nurse told them she was sick because of the water they are drinking. -
Nya chapter 9
Nya and her brother met these two men men that came over in their village and they spoke to the men and hey were talking about the water they drink. -
Nya chapter 10
The men are trying to find a closer place or pond that has water. -
Nya chapter 11
Question:1She finds it so hard to believe because before the men came she had to walk almost 8 hours just to get water in a pond that isn't clean and why would she think that there would be a chance to find water. -
Nya chapter 12
Question 1: Nya is talking a bout a crane because it is tall like a giraffe and it's neck. -
Nya chapter 13
The men are trying to find water so they are going to a pond and back and putting into a big bag in a truck but it kept leaking from the bag and the men were discouraged from the leak that had been happening. -
Nya chapter 14
The men found out how to work the water but it started leaking again and everyone was happy and clapping that they had water now.But when Nya started clapping along with the others she noticed that the water wasn't even clean it was all dirty with mud. -
Nya chapter 15
The water had been spraying out of the borehole but it was still brown and muddy.Then the leader told the kids that the water will soon be clean and they will have to drill the hole deeper to get clean water. -

Nya is wondering what her dad is going to build with the men. -

Nya found out that her dad is building a school. Nya was really happy and excited that they are building a school that girls can attend and that she will learn how to read and write. -
Nya chapter 18
The well had been finally built and they are going to have a school in America and the students are going to have too raise money for the school.They took turns pushing the pump to see the water come out of the well and the water was clean.They were all celebrating that they finally had clean water to drink and didn't have to walk far for it.Next year they would have a market full of food and drinks.Then a coincidence happened and Nya met a man from the Dinka tribe and it was Salva
