The first attempt at uniting the colonies was during French Indian war. The 13 colonies united to fight the British forces over taxation forming the bedrock for the formation of the new geographical entity known as the United States of America.

    The New England colonies experienced rapid growth in population around 1790 to about 700,000 was due to a thriving economy. The middle colonies have a more diverse population from different nationalities. Many of the settlers in the colonies were in their 5th generation of being in American during the Revolution.By 1790 ancestry is becoming irrelevant because of intermarriage between the different ethnic group.
