The Beothuk Peoples were located in the Newfoundland Cnada, where they were shortly kiled off by europeans through violnve and diesease. This is important to Canada because it was a tribe that was killed for the land, they became extinct due to the actions we took. This effects the Canadian identity because Canada has apoligized for what they have done to the First Nations people and has made special arrangments for them. -
Lord Durhams report encourages the assimilation of the Francophone colonists
This is an important factor to Canada’s identity because Canada is seen as a bilingual nation, because of the fact the Francophone culture became a part of Canada. -
The BNA act is passed creating the nation-state of Canada
This is imoprtant becuase when the BNA Act was passed Canada became it's own nation-state, which means they were no longer under the rule of the Bristish Empire and became self governoring. The first separatist referndum, was when Quebev first took the vote to split from Canada and become independent. The vote that won was ``no`` for Quebec was to stay a part of Canada, although the vote was close. This is a part opf Canada`s indetity for we are a bilingual and are trying to asimilate francophones into Canada. -

Quebec refusing to sign the constitution was a huge deal for Canada because it classifies that Quebec is no longer under any of Canada’s laws. -

The AFN repersents First Nations people in Canada. This is important to Canada as we help the First Nations people in Canada. We hear their vopices, and apoligies for the past. This is a part of our idenityt as we are peace keeping in our own country to make sure things stay the same and are always becoming better. -

The Oka Crisis was the foundation of the Royal Commissions on Aboriginal Peoples, due to issues that had been brought up in the terms of the aboriginal affairs. This is a part of Canadian identity because it proves how Canada continues and makes agreements/treaties better through experiences. -

The RCMP is an important uniform as a symbol of Canada. There was a big uproar about this topic as it was changing an important symbol in Canada. This is important to Canada because it shows just how multicultural Canada is. -

Quebec is apart of Canada’s identity because Canada is known for being bilingual and has adopted french into Canada. -
Canada apologizes for Residential Schools
Canada apoligizing for residential schools was a big step for Canada. What had happened in the past was terrible. Although some First Nations peoples stil struggle because of the past, Canada has helped within many ways. This is a factor to Canada`s identity because Canada is a peace keeping country, which can mean apoligizing for some mistakes that have been made through the past.
