    Created after the First World War to provide a forum for resolving international disputes.Wilson voiced the wartime opinions of many diplomats and intellectuals on both sides of the Atlantic who believed there was a need for a new type of standing international organization dedicated to fostering international cooperation, providing security for its members, and ensuring a lasting peace.
    The significance of the L.O.N.E was to simply try to keep war from happening again.

    Irish Free State Proclaimed
    1916 Irish nationalists launched the Easter Rising against British rule in Dublin. Republican Army launched a widespread and effective guerrilla campaign against British forces. In 1921, a cease-fire was declared, and in January 1922 a faction of Irish nationalists signed a peace treaty with Britain, calling for the partition of Ireland.
    The significance was that Ireland was no longer split in to 2 parts of government instead it became just one free country.

    First Olympic Winter Games
    Sports competitions were held at the foot of Mont Blanc in Chamonix, and Haute-Savoie, France between January 25 and February 5,1924.Like the Olympics,it was staged thereon every four years but always in Sweden.Germany planned a Winter Olympics to precede the 1916 Berlin Summer Games, but WW1 forced the cancellation of both.Of the nearly 300 athletes, only 13 were women, and they only competed in the figure-skating events.The significance,they brought nations together and created friendships.

    This would have been the first time an aircraft flew over the top of the world. The pair had taken off from Spitsbergen, Norway, he flew the 1,545 mile trip to the pole and back in 15 hours and 30 minutes. His famous flight was to suggest that he and Bennett may have turned back 150 miles short of the pole because of an oil leak.
    The significance of this was that man had made a new way of travel and it had helped them discover above to find new lands that had not been seen.

Pluto was appropriately given the Roman name for the god of the underworld in Greek mythology.Pluto’s average distance from the sun is nearly four billion miles,and it takes approximately 248 years to complete one orbit.The significance was that with science still growing,finding this planet with new innovative technology was astonishing to people at the time.
