    After her husband became Czar Peter III in 1761, Catherine grew angry at his weak ruling nature, as did many other Russian nobles. Catherine was able to seize power from the new czar, who was murdered, and she was declared czarina of Russia. She was influenced by major European thinkers who beleived that a strong and wise ruler would improve life.

    The Constitution is the supreme law of the U.S. The original only consisted of ten amendments, and later was amended twenty-seven times. The first ten are known as the Bill of Rights, and they give specific protentions over liberty and justice.
