Blanca's Language Learning Timeline

  • A new world to discover!

    A new world to discover!
I was born on a sunny Thursday in the hospital Vall d'Hebron in Barcelona.
I was pretty little and too innocent like the other babies: we didn't know that a whole world was waiting for us.
  • My home languages

    My home languages
    I'm not a completely catalan girl, I'm a catalan-bolivian girl.
My mum is from Bolivia, and my dad is from Catalonia, so at my home Catalan and Spanish have been always present.
However, in the nursery and in the primary school they taught to me in Catalan and I had to learn Catalan.
At home, even though my mum tried to speak in Catalan to my brother and me, she spoke in Spanish too, so we learnt Spanish and Catalan at the same time.
  • Nursery

    Nursery
At my first day at the nursery "El pollet de la llar" in Barcelona, I didn't have 2 years old yet but I had a lot of thrill to start. At that nursery the language that I had to speak was Catalan.
  • Another town and school

    Another town and school
My family moved to Sant Quirze because my parents were fed up of the noises in the city and they want a better place to live, because we lived in a flat.
My school changed too: I arrived at the middle of the year in the school "Onze de Setembre", also a Catalan school
  • More languages!

    More languages!
When I started 1st of Primary, there were two new subjects: Spanish and English.
Until that year I always learnt Catalan but, since then I had to learn, at school, two more languages.
  • The school finished

    The school finished
Graduated from Primary school, I was already bilingual because I could speak Catalan and Spanish fluently. Also,I already knew how to speak English!
  • ESO!

    ESO!
When I started the ESO, I started to learn French, a new language for me, because I think that it's really interesting and I guess it will be very useful for me in the future.
I am in the fourth year of French and I think that I have to improve my French during the year to be able to pass the exam B1 or B2.
  • English Camping in Cala Llevadó

    English Camping in Cala Llevadó
All the students of 1st of ESO went to an English camp in Cala Llevadó for 5 days. It was a trip that we did for the end of the year and it was an English trip. In the camping we had English lessons in the morning and activities in the afternoon.
With that camp I improved my English
  • Montpellier

    Montpellier
For practise my French I went to Montpellier with my French class and the teacher in 2nd ESO. We had to live and try to communicate with a French family for a week using our French that we had learnt in class.
I lived with the same family that my friend Helena, and I really had fun there, we practiced our French and the family helped us with the mistakes that we did, and I'm still appreciating that fact
  • London

    London
I never went to London before this year, and it was amazing! When I went I visited all the monuments of London: The London Eye, The Big Ben... But everyone who goes to London can't only visit things, they also have to practice their English. And that's what I did: I practiced a little bit of English, I tried to think in English and spoke in English.
I loved London, it was an incredibly experienc
  • Again Montpellier!

    Again Montpellier!
I went a second time to Montpellier and also with my friend Helena. We went with another family and they took care of us really well, we had fun too in that second time, and I think we improved our French a little bit more.
  • Today!

    Today!
Now I'm in 4th of ESO and recently I started that final year of the high school. I don't want to leave the languages, I try to continue studying to be able to be every time better.
Actually, I can speak four languages: Spanish, Catalan, French and English. And I'm so glad to say that I'm bilingual!
