Benjamin Button

  • Age 70

    Benjamin Button was born at age 70. His family and especially his father was very surprised about his new kid being a 70 year old man. Everyone was surprised infact and no one was very happy. Benjamin got mad at the nurses and doctors when they treated him like a baby. Benjamin wasn't happy with the situation either. One quote that showed Benjamin was mad with the doctors and nurses was, "...all this yelling and howling, ... I asked for something to eat and they brought me a bottle of milk."
  • 6 Months After His Birth

    Mr. Button tried to purchase baby clothes for Benjamin, but the clothes he needed to purchase were not baby clothes since Benjamin is 5'8". The clerk was annoyed by Mr. Button since he said he needed to buy baby clothes even though he really needed clothes for an old man. The clerk was confused by this. Mr. Button was embarrased by this: "You've made a monkey of me! ... Put them on -- or I'll -- or I'll spank you."
  • 7 Months After His Birth

    Mr. Button was in denial about the fact that his son was an old man: "play with it" he always said. Mr. Button kept buying Benjamin baby toys even though he wasn't interested in playing with them.
  • 12 Years After Benjamin's Birth

    Benjamin was now 12 years old and he was starting to notice that his hair was starting to turn from white to an iron-gray. Also, his skin was starting to contain less wrinkles. Benjamin wanted "to put trousers on" now since he felt he was growing up. This was the first time he noticed this. At this time his family had grown used to him and accepted him.
  • 18 Years After Benjamin's Birth

    Benjamin was now erect as a man of fifty and his hair was starting to turn into a dark gray. His voice was now firm and he lost the cracked quaver in his voice. Mr. Button sent him up to Connecticut to take entrance examinations for entrance to Yale College. The person who interview Benjamin at Yale thought Benjamin was making a joke since he looked like a fifty year old man. The students at Yale shouted at Benjamin,"He must be the Wandering Jew!" and many other roud taunts.
  • In 1880, 20 Years After Birth

    Benjamin started to work for his father in Roger Button & Co, Wholesale Hardware. Also, he began "going out socially". At one of the dances he fell in love with a women: "Dad, you might introduce me to her." That women was Hildergarde Moncrief. They ended up getting married.
  • 20 Years and 6 Months After His Birth

    Mr. Benjamin Button got engaged to Miss Hildergarde Moncrief and now the Baltimore society thought Benjamin was Mr. Button's father or his brother who was in prison for forty years. Benjamin really didn't want to announce the engagement: he declared "he would rather fall upon his sword than announce it".
  • About 40 Years After Benjamin's Bith

    "He seems to grow younger every year," people would remark. The one thing that worried Benjmain: his wife ceased to attract him. Hildegarde was now thirty-five, with a song Roscoe who was fourteen. Benjamin also joined the army; he became slightly wounded but recieved a medal. He decided to give up the army and come home to help the business that required attention.
  • About 45 Years After His Birth

    Benjamin kept becoming less and less attracted to Hildergarde since she was aging while he was starting to look younger: "eveybody says I look younger than ever." Hildergarde was annoyed about his boasting about saying how he is looking younger everyday: "Do you think it's anything to boast about?" It's obvious their relationship is getting worse.
  • About 55 Years After His Birth

    "I can't go alone", Benjamin did not want to go to a prep school. His son had now told him to call him his :"uncle" instead of Roscoe the kid Benjamin had raised as a kid. Their relationship was starting to break up.
  • 57 Years After His Birth

    Benjamin now looked under the age of sixteen even though he was really fifty-seven years old. Benjamin attempted to join the army again but they didn't think he was the mininum age to join the army. He got really mad at the army people: "Get some one to handle my luggage!" He obviously wasn't happy with himself looking younger than ever.
  • About 66 Years After Benjamin's Birth

    Benjamin now was in Kindergarden and was starting to play the childish games he never enjoyed. His nurse also helps teach him by pointing out animals. In response Benjamin says: "Elyphant, elyphant, elyphant." He now at the size and mental age of a young kid when he was really about sixty-six years old.
