    The so-called “phony war” ended decisively when Nazi Germany invaded the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Belgium in a blitzkrieg attack. As Germany advanced they cut of all communications and transport between the north and south allied forces.General John Gort started to think about evacuating to save his entire fleet from attacking nazi soldiers.

    The climax of Nazi Germany’s Operation Barbarossa, and it ended the Germans intention to capture Moscow, which ultimately doomed the Third Reich. The Germans who advanced were in trouble due to poor weather.Germans were also shocked by the Soviet Union’s ability to keep bringing forward more reserves: over the course of the battle 75 fresh Soviet divisions arrived, with no reinforcements to the German attacking force. Germans ended up surrounding large soviet forces.
  • Battle of Pearl Harbor

    It was a surprise bombing by japan on a US naval base near Honolulu Hawaii.Hundreds of Japanese fighter planes descended on the base, where they managed to destroy or damage nearly 20 American naval vessels, including eight battleships, and over 300 airplanes. More than 2,400 Americans died in the attack, including civilians, and another 1,000 people were wounded. The day after the assault, President Franklin D. Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war on Japan.

There was more than two million troops fought in close quarters and nearly two million people were killed or injured in the fighting, including thousands of Russian civilians. The russians wanted stalingrad because it was an industrial center in russia.

    This was one of adolf hitler's last major battles in WWll against the western front his goal was to split the allies in their drive towards germany.The German troops’ failure to divide Britain, France and America with the Ardennes offensive paved the way to victory for the allies. There were over 100,000 casualties and was taken place in frigid temps. Roughly 15,000 died due to wheather.
  • Battle of Kursk

    The Battle of Kursk happened in western Russia as Germany launched operation Citadel. This battle was Germany's last chance to regain dominance on the Eastern Front. Adolf Hitler gave the Soviets ample time to prepare for the onslaught. Ultimately, Germany’s plan to wipe out the Red Army once and for all failed, but not before both sides experienced heavy casualties.
  • Battle of Normandy

    This battle would lead to the liberation of Adolf Hitler's armed forces. More then 13,000 bombing planes were apart of this invasion.By the end of August 1944 all of northern France was liberated, and the invading forces reorganized for the drive into Germany, where they would eventually meet with Soviet forces advancing from the east to bring an end to the Nazi Reich. Roughly 77,000 thousand allied and 22,000 German soldiers were killed.

    This battle is also known as D-day due to all the death. There were about 60,000 US soldiers and 21,000 Japanese soldiers.In thirty-six days of fighting on the island,
    nearly 7,000 U.S. Marines were killed. Another 20,000 were
    wounded. Marines captured 216 Japanese soldiers; the rest were killed in action.

    It took place from April 20 to May 2, 1945, and it ended with the fall of Berlin to the Soviet Red Army, which took revenge for the suffering of the Soviet people since 1941.Soviet Union assembled outside Berlin one of the largest concentrations of military power ever seen. Within the city, already repeatedly pounded by Allied bombing, refugees and citizens were protected by a scratch force of stragglers and the remnants of shattered formations.Soviet marshals were willing to have casualties.
