    May, 1775. The Green Mountain Boys, Ethan Allen, and Benedict Arnold rowed across Lake Champlain to take the fort by surprise in the night. This opened a secure passage north and brought much needed artillery to the George Washington's troops. Americans won!

    June, 1775. Great Britain ships bombed Bunker Hill before sending troops up the hill 3 times, only to have them repelled by the colonists. This became the bloodiest battle of the war, eventually the British conquered the hill. Convinced more colonist to turn against the king. British won!

    August, 1776. This battle was British attempt to seize control of New York, as a means to isolate the New England colonies from the rest of the colonies. Washington served a crushing defeat, although continuing the fight. British won!
  • Battles of Trenton & Princeton (NJ)

    December and January, 1776-1777. Washington and hos men crossed the Delaware river in hopes to catch the British by surprise in Trenton. American militia harassed the Hessian garrison until they either escaped or were captured. A continued crossing of the Delaware occurred for the Battle of Princeton. Americans won!

    General Sir William Howe and General Charles Cornwallis launched an attack on Continental Army's outpost at Brandywine Creek, on the road linking Baltimore and Philadelphia. The troops split into 2 groups and caught Washington off guard, allowing the British to take control of Philadelphia. British won!

    September and October, 1777. It included two crucial battles, fought eighteen days apart, and was a decisive victory for the Continental Army and a crucial turning point in the Revolutionary War. This persuaded the French, Spanish, and Dutch to assist the Americans. America won!

    March – May, 1780. In March the British had descended on Charleston. By early April, the British forces had trapped the Americans in the city. The British demanded that the Americans surrender. The American general refused, so the British bombarded the city with heated shot. As Charleston burned, the Americans knew they had to surrender. British won!
  • Battle of Cowpens (SC)

    Americans were positioned into three lines. The front line consisted of around 150 riflemen, they were told to shoot and retreat. The second line was made up of 300 militiamen with muskets. These men were to fire three times each into the approaching British and then retreat. The third line held the main force. This plan worked brilliantly. Americans won!

    September - October, 1781. British General Charles Cornwallis had marched his army into the Virginia port town earlier that summer expecting to meet British ships sent from New York. The ships never arrived. Being surrounded by the French and Americans, he was forced to surrendered his army to General George Washington at Yorktown. Americans won!
