    Early Life

    Born September 6, 1944 in Denver, Donna attended Colorado College and majored in Zoology. After college, she moved to Paris to study evolutionary philosophy and theology. She later completed her PhD. in biology biology at Yale in 1972.

    A Manifesto for Cyborgs

    Originally published in 1984, then republished in 1985, A Cyborg Manifesto, is a critique of feminism in the 1980's. In summary, this essay is a speculative piece about human nature where individuals use a concept of "conscious coalition," choosing what group you belong to based on political or poetic liking rather than sex or race.     Later Works

    Donna's later works, Situated Knowledge and Primate Visions, published in 1988 and 1989 respectively, question culture, race, and gender in modern science. Donna gave lectures and insight on the relationship between people; and the relationship between people and machines. In September of 2000, the culmination of all of her works have earned her the J.D. Bernal Award given by the Society for Social Studies of Science; the highest honor.
