His identity remain unknown, no one really knows who he is. Banksy is the pseudonym of a "guerrilla" street artist known for his controversial, and often politically themed, stenciled pieces. -
Started Career
Banksy began his career as a graffiti artist in the early 1990s, in Bristol's graffiti gang DryBreadZ Crew. He started as a freehand, only using stencils on occasions. He didn't start using stencils more until the late 90's -
Mild Mild West
He painted his first known large wall mural, ‘The Mild Mild West’ to cover advertising of a former solicitors' office on Stokes Croft in Bristol in 1997. -
Moving to London
It is believed that Banksy moved to London in 2000. -
Balloon Girl
In 2002 he made a painting of a little girl letting go of a red balloon in many places. In 2017 this mural was found as the UK's favorite painting. -
