    Chapter 1 of the book
  • Disease

Holly notices that Artemis is acting strange, always using 5 (e.g. five words) and avoiding 4. She and Foaly share the same thoughts: Artemis is suffering from a disease like OCD, Atlantis Complex.
  • U.F.O

Artemis' radar detects a gigantic space probe designed by Foaly originally made to probe Mars. While it is heading towards the Earth, Foaly first denies that it is there (as it has cloaking devices) but after a more detailed scan he admits that it actually is heading towards Earth.
  • Paranoia

While the probe touches down, Artemis starts to feel the first effects of his disease, paranoia. He accuses Foaly and also Holly of being the ones to touch down this probe, and then he thinks that his mind is playing tricks on him the the probe is not real.
Soon everyone is knocked out and the last thing Holly sees is some mysterious black figures coming out of the probe.
  • Wrestling

Artemis has a very powerful bodyguard named Butler (his real name is Domovoi, but that is a secret). Artemis gets a text for Butler from Juliet, saying that she is in trouble. Butler very quickly arrives in Cancun, where he discovers that she and her opponent are really just faking the fight.

  • Amorphobots

Holly wakes up to Foaly calling her, and soon her magic fully repairs her broken body. The black figures, called amorphobots, are capable of tracking down life and capturing them. Soon, though, she comes back up in a smaller probe and picks them up and goes to locate the real probe.
  • Trapped

Artemis is trapped in his own head. He tries to escape, but cannot, as some kind of fours block him from going out. This is caused by his delusion which hates 4 and loves 5.

While Holly is driving a gigantic 20 year old probe, Orion continues to spout romantic nonsense such as the title, "How do I love thee?" This almost causes the passengers and Holly to crash.

  • Search

Holly, Orion and Foaly search for the probe, which is invisible but is being tracked by its bubbles (due to the fact that it is underwater). Foaly soon discovers that the probe is heading directly towards the underwater fairy city, Atlantis. Then, to add to the dread, the probe's oxygen supply runs low. Holly must knock out Orion and Foaly so that she has enough oxygen to get to the surface.
  • Atlantis in Danger

Holly sends a message warning the LEP (Lower Elements Police) about the probe heading towards Atlantis. Soon, she collapses along with Foaly and Orion.
  • Vishby

Vishby, Turnball's prison "guard" had actually been hypnotized by Turnball long ago. Now, Vishby is more like an accomplice to Turnball and he does whatever he says.
  • Reunion

  • Escape

Turnball and his colleagues escape from the prison by simply walking into an amorphobot, which is semi-solid.

  • Leonor

Turnball reveals that he has a wife, who he had not seen for a very long time. This is his main source of guilt. When he finally arrives to see Leonor, his wife, he discovers that the only thing keeping Leonor alive was her longing to see Turnball one final time. He steers Leonor towards a probe, promising falsely to her that he would give her the secret to eternal life and let her fly wherever she wanted (as was her lifelong wish).
  • Period: to

    Chapter 9

  • Orion Returns

As Holly and "Artemis" are walking down the hall, "Artemis" suddenly jabs Turnball in the gut, winding him. He is revealed to be Orion. Soon, as the room they are all in are rigged to explode, Turnball accepts that he is unable to "win" and pilots the exploding room bravely with his wife Leonor to the Atlantic Trench, where it explodes. Holly and the Butlers are unconcious.
  • Cured

Holly and Artemis are cured from the hold of the runes, and they are in a hospital. Butler makes a call to Artemis' mother, telling her about his disease. She soon packs her bags and calls the fairies to tell them to pick her up.
