    Palestinian resentment of Israeli occupation led to a rebellion known as the intifada. the Oslo Accords ended the rebellion, but the permanent agreement was not signed.

    Since the permanent agreement was not signed, extremists on both sides led violent attacks on each other. In 2004, the Palestinian leader died and Israel also withdrew from Gaza and parts of the West Bank.
