    The Election of 1824 marked the final collapse of the Republican-federalist political party. The winner of the electoral college was Andrew Jackson, but since no candidate recieved majority of the votes, the House of Representatives had to choose between the remaining Jackson and Adams after Crawford was eliminated. Henry Clay chose John Quincy Adams and he would become the 6th president of the united states.

    The Election of 1828 was a rematch between Jackson and Adams. It was said to have been the dirtiest election ever. Jackson won by a landslide with 178 electoral votes leaving Adams with only 83. Jackson became the 7th president of the united states.

Jackson was very stubborn and skeptical about banks and zrgued very much with the president of the bank, Nicholas Biddle. Eventually Jackson got the bank dismandled.

    South Carolina passed and Ordinance of Nullification to secede from the US is the federal government attempted to collect the tariffs tof 1828 that South Carolina saw unconstitutional. Henry Clay created a compromise that gave more power to the president in cases where states tried to seceed. It appealed to both South Carolina and the president and South Carolina did not finally secede.
