The Praetorian guard had plans of their own and raised Claudius up as emperor and the senate accepted him. Claudius rule was wise, fair and good but his personal life was a mess. Claudius was poisoned by his wife Agrippina and her son Nero became Emperor. -

Vitellius fought several others who sought to take position of Emperor for the themselves and defeated several including Otho and defeated Galba through sheer popularity. Vitellius fell to Vespasian who rose from the Egypt and Persian areas of the empire. Vitellius was defeated, mocked, tortured and thrown into the Tiber river. -

Even though Titus reigned for a short time he ruled during a time of much calamity, the destruction of Herculaneum and Pompeii due to the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius. -

Domitian was born on October 24, 51 AD. Domitian became emperor after the death of his brother Titus when he did not leave any successor to the throne. Domitian brought back the worst aspects of Nero's reign. Domitian ruled by fear and with fear becuase he was very superstituous and suspicious of his friends, family and fellow leaders. After 15 years of tyranny he was assassinated in 96 AD.
