  • 1754-1763 French and Indian War

    The Treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian War. The result of the nine-year war was the French ceded all of their North American possessions to Britain. Their possessions included the east of the Mississippi River. The costs of the war were paid by the new taxes on American colonies.

    The Stamp Act was made to increase revenues to pay the cost of defending the expanded British Empire. Many colonists did not agree with the Stamp Act and nullified it.
