  • Navigation Acts

    Laws passed by England to maintain control the colonial trade. The acts made colonist buy English goods and limited trade with other countries.
  • Treaty of Paris of 1763

    The document that ended the war between Britain and France over the Ohio river valley. This treaty ended French power in North America and expanded British territory and increased British debt.
  • Proclamation Act of 1763

    The proclamation was meant to keep the the natives and colonists from fighting. This act made colonists angry because they couldn't go west past the Appalachian Mountains.
  • Sugar Act of 1764

    The Sugar and molasses Act of was about to expire. It required colonists to pay a tax of 6 pence, although most colonists worked around it and didn't pay. Later the Sugar Act was created, lowering price of tax to 3 pence, so colonists would actually pay.
  • Writs of Assistance

    The Writs of Acts made it legal for British soldiers to search any property looking for goods.
  • Stamp Act of 1765

    This act required all colonists to purchase stamps, and stamp marks, from every piece of legal paper and other printed papers including letters, Playing cards, wills, and diplomas.
  • Quartering Acts of 1765

    This act required all colonists to house British soldiers and provide them with supplies. It was not optional for them to take them in.
  • Stamp Act Congress

    Stamp Act Congress was petitioned by the king and was the boycott of of British goods.
  • Declaratory Act of 1766

    This law said that British government had supreme authority to govern the colonies.
