  • French Begin Building Forts Along Ohio River

    At this time it was imperative to the French that they continue building forts to secure their claims on the land in North America. In the Ohio Valley, forts were built along the Ohio River to control the land and keep the Thirteen Colonies at a safe distance.

  • The Seven Years War Begins

    The great Empires of the world were part of an ongoing battle for total control of the world. North America was a major stepping stone on the way to total conquest, which meant that a war between France and England in North America was inevitable.
  • William Pitt Became Prime Minister of England

    At this time in 1757 William Pitt became the Prime Minister in England. His actions at this time in the Fall of New France were monumental because he chose to focus his military attention on the wars in North America, rather than the war in Europe. He realized that although the French were winning in Europe, taking control of North America would be much more beneficial in the plan to completely conquer the world in the name of England.
  • Fall of Louisbourg

    Louisbourg was a successful fort just on the coast of North America that was property of the French. This was a coveted fort by the English so it was so surprise that the English attacked with an impressive fleet of fighter and artillery ships along with many troops and citizens that were determined to take control of this colony's territory. The English succeeded and took control of Louisbourg which marked the end of the remaining military control that the French had until this time.
  • Attack at Fort Carillon

    The battle at Fort Carillon or otherwise known as The Battle of Ticonderoga was a major victory for the French troops during the Seven Years War. This was one of the important battles that the Frenc won because they were able to hold off British troops with a limited number of troops that they had. Eventually the British succeeded and held Fort Carillon (Fort Ticonderoga) as their own.
  • General Wolfe was ordered to Conquer Quebec

    General Wolfe was sent over from England specifically to conquer the fort at Quebec, This fort was very important for the French Fur trade and if the British were successful in capturing it then they would also be successful in ruining the French fur trade in New France. This would eventually contribute to the crumbling of the French control.
  • Siege of Quebec

    The seige of Quebec was devastating for the people of the fort. For nine days the British soldiers bombarded the fort with cannon balls and gun fire. The town was in ruins to the point where the people had no hope of survival.
  • Battle of Plains of Abraham

    The Battle of The Plains of Abraham was a very important battle for the British military, The troops docked in an unsuspected area down the St Lawrence River. Led by General James Wolfe, the British troops scaled a cliff that was located between two French armies. The attack was risky, however the element of surprise was an advantage for these troops. Due to mistakes made by Marquis de Montcalm (French Leader), The British won the battle which was the beginning of the end for French rule.
  • Articles of Capitulation

    The articles of Capitulation were written and agreed upon so that the inhabitants of New France area could live under the same rules and conditions that the British citizens lived under. The French were promised that they would be able to worship their God without being harassed in any way by other citizens, Also, the Aboriginals were promised that they would be able to preserve their Native land without fear of it being taken away.
  • Articles of Capitulation Continued

    The British were very fearful of a revolution from the Aboriginals and the French inhabitants so they made sure that the conditions that were set were accomodating and pleasing to these people.
  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris was signed on February 10th, 1763 by the great empires of Europe. This treaty ended the Seven Years War and began a new British control over more land outside of the actual country.
  • The Royal Proclomation

    The Royal Proclomation of 1763 established guidelines and boundaries of the relationships between the Native people of North America and the new settlers and new British rule. This proclomation was and still is very important to Canada and the relationships we have with the Aboriginals because it recognizes the Natives' land as their property. It also states that the Aboriginals are protected by the crown.
  • Pontiac Signs Peace Treaty with the English

    After attacking eight colonies and killing hundreds of colonists because of his anger towards the British and the French signing a treaty that he did not know about, Pontiac signed a revised treaty with the British so that Aboriginals' rights would be preserved.
