A History of the Periodic Table

By fgreva
  • A Book Called "The Sceptical Chymist" was published

It contains some of the earliest information about atoms, molecules, and chemical reactions
  • Antoine Lavoisier created the first list of 33 elements

It included elements, as well as metals, and non-metals
  • Jakob Berzelius made a table with atomic weights, as well as letters to symbolize elements

  • Johann Dobereiner made groups for three elements with similar properties

  • John Newlands arranged all known elements in an order based on atomic weight

  • An early version of the periodic table was created with 28 different elements, by Lothar Meyer

  • The noble gasses were discovered by William Ramsay

  • Henry Moseley figured out the atomic number for each element, as well as modifying the "Periodic Law"

  • Glenn Seaborg produced heavy mass elements, for a new block on the periodic table, the "actinides"

  • Four new elements were added to the Periodic Table

    -113 Nihonium
    -115 Moscovium
    -117 Tennessine
    -118 Oganesson
