    The building on Parkhill Drive in Selden was purchased in 1979. Today it still serves as a worship center for 300+ Muslim Americans living in Suffolk County.

    IALI purchased the neighboring piece of land in 2003, to accomodate its growing population.

    Renovation proposal is submitted to planning board
    IALI first submitted its plans for renovation to the Brookhaven Town Planning Board in December of 2009.

    Town of Brookhaven holds a hearing regarding the renovation plan
    The Planning Board held a hearing in late September for both Selden residents and IALI members to voice their opinion.
  • Original date of Planning Board vote

    The Planning Board was supposed to vote on the renovation plans on October 13, however the vote was postponed by several weeks.
  • Board approves renovation plan

    Board approves renovation plan
    The renovation plan was voted on and approved by all seven members of the Planning Board on November 22, 2010.
