    Steam Engine
    The steam engine introduced a new source of energy into the 18th- century. Before this, most machines were powered by water wheels. But in 1765, James Watt made his 1st improvement to this. During this time, he invented other ways to improve its efficiency. The innovations he did finally made the steam engine be useful to widespread and affordable. In the end, it ended up having a great effect on industrializing England and production, transportation, and accleration grew immensly.

    Haitian Revolution

    The Haitian Revolution was when the slaves rose up to their masters. This revolution, and many others were influenced by the French Revolution.During this time, there were about 30,000 mulattoes and 500,000 maroons.So, led by Toussaint l’Overture they all rebelled against their masters. Tons of them ended up dying. Later on, he abolished slavery and declared himself Governor-General.This served as an inspiration for many other revolts and some people say it was one of the most important events.

    The French Revolution was a whole social,political and economic disaster in the society at that time. It first started off by Louis XVI putting France into major debt. Then things started to ravel down after that, for example Bastille taking place, the Reign of Terror, Robspierre, and then finally Napoleon coming in and ending all of this and overthrowing the directory. In the end, it transformed France from a monarchy to a republic.

    Independence of Mexico

    This began when Miguel Hidalgo made a speech that people quickly responded to by turning into a mob and killing people. After this,Jose Morelos rose to the lead. As the fighting took place, he called for the making of a constitution for an independent Mexico.He ended up being killed for this and Iturbide lead Mexico to its victory in 1821. His ideas did not agree with the pervious leaders, so instead he set up an empire by himself. In the end,it effected Mexico's struggles for the next 90 years.

    The Congress of Vienna was a meeting that involved Ruissia, Prussia, Austria, and the UK. The whole point of this was to restore the balance of the power in Europe after Napoleon. So, they agreed to make a barrier of strong states. In the end of remaking the boundaries, they overall wanted to balance the power equally along the strongest countries. These boundaries established in 1815 ended up lasting till the Italian war for unification in 1859.

    The Opium War all started off in the 1700's when British merchants began getting huge profits by trading opium for Chinese tea. Not long after this, many of the Chinese people started to get addicted to it. So, then Chinese goverment prohibited it and executed Chinese drug dealers. The British ended up not being happy with this at all, so their actions quickly turned into a war. In 1839, Since the Chinese didn't have updated weapons and fighting techniques,the Chinese lost.

    The Communist Manifesto was a book written by German philosophers Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. It basically overall formed a basis for communist political thought and served as a call to arms for thousands of political people. It ended up being published in London in 1848. It soon was translated into dozens of languages and later it even reached to be sold all around the world. Since then, it has gone down in history as one of the most influential political documents.

    Commodore, Matt Perry sailed to Japan in 1853 to bring a letter tilted "Treaty of Kanagawa" from Millard Fillmore that forced Japan to open their ports.In this treaty it agreed to open Japanese ports to American ships.But during this time Japan couldn't defend itself against America's technology.Not long after that the U.S won the trading and low taxes on imports as did the European nations.In end,some people couldn't get over how weak they were against the foreigners they fought.

    The sepoy mutiny was a rebellion that quickly turned into a huge Anglo-Indian war. It began at Meerut , but then spread to Delhi.Though the military was accompanied by the strongholds of Calcutta, Bombay, and Madras were not threatened.The war raged over India until 1858 though.In 1858, it all ended. It ended up destroying the rule of the East India Company and it also basically told most Indians that the past could not be restored.

    In 1871, Otto von Bismarck united Germany.So, in 1862, King William I declared Otto von Bismarck prime minister. Soon, he made his way up to be the highest offical of a monarch. So,Bismarck used his policy of "blood and iron" to have all the German states come together as one under Prussian rule.Then, in 1871 King Wilhelm II is crowned German Kaiser and later on in 1890 Wilhelm dismisses Bismarck.So, in the end Wilhelm makes Germany a leading industrial power and has it compete for colonies.

    This was a meeting called by King Leopold II of Belgium. It was originally called because there was confusion along the nations regarding the borders. The main goal was to agree that the Congo River and Niger River basins would be freely and openly used to further trade. At the end of this, it wreaked havoc in Africa and divided it into 50 countries and also brought together enemies. The effects lasted was the violence and political divison that went with Africa for decades.

    Russo- Japanese War

    The Russo- Japanese War was an argument between Russia and Japan that ended up leading to a war . Whoever won the war, got China's Liaodong Peninsula and Port Arthur. So, Russia tried to take the peninsula in 1898. While this was going on, Japan built up its military. Then, in 1904 they attacked Russian fleet and had a successful invasion. In the end, Japan ended up winning the peninsula. So it really provided a taste of things to come for warfar and the aftermath went with both countries.
  • Zulu Uprising

    This was a Zulu revolt against the British rule and taxation in South Africa.It was led by leader of the Zondi clan , who was Bambatha kaMancinza.This all started because he resisted the new idea of the collection of the new tax. After Bambatha got together supporters and began launching attacks which lead to be wins,then the colonial troops set out on their expedition.During this, Bambatha was killed along with thousands of Zulus.Overall,this was a reply to the harsh policies that were made.
  • Dr. Sun Yat- sen takes over China

    Dr. Sun Yat- sen takes over China
    Sun Yat- sen was a spokesman for a Chinese republic. In the early 1900's though, he began to make the Revolutionary Alliance to rebuild China. He based it off the " 3 Principles of the People". The first was to free China from foreign domination. The second was representative goverment, and the third was livelihood. Then,later on because of all the chaos, he was named president for the Chinese republic. So, in the end Sun Yat- sen really helped demonstrate nationalism, democracy and equality.
