Russia sends troops to help its ally Serbia and Germany came and helped its ally Austria-Hungary then Britian and France backed up there ally Russia then Italy joined the war helping its ally Germany. -
U-Boats.
before the war germany outpaced britian with there navy and created a new ship called the U-boats (submarines). But as a reasult the U-Boats cant see who there shooting so they shoot anyone they see. this caused the american luitania to be sunk. This is what sparked america to join the war. -
Battle of Ypres
One of the three most famous wars. The battle of Ypres was when Germany unleashed a new weopen: chlorine gas. While French soldiers were dying from this horible gas as they tried to retreat, Canadian troops replaced them and used a hankerchief that they pee'd on to try and help them survive.The battle ended in stalement. -
Battle of the Somme
British attacked near a Somme river and the Germans were ready the battle shed a lot of blood. 60,000 reports of death just on the British side on the first day. The battle lasted five months and about 80,000 canadian soldiers faught in this battle but they only gained 545 square kilometers of land. -
Battle of Vimy Ridge
Both the French and the british troops tried and failed to capture Vimy Ridge. Next it was the Canadians turn. Aurthur Currie leaded the Cnadians into battle he ensired that the Cndians were well rested well prepared and well informed by using photos and maps to study what they were up against. They also found a new stratagy called the creeping barrage. -

3 days after fighting in vimy ridge the canadians won and held vimy ridge. This gave new hope to Canadians and made a turning point in Canadian history as a nation. -
planes!
the red baron (German plane) shot down 80 allied planes. That evening Brown was flying in the air with his squadron. suddenly he saw one of his allies in a dogfight with the red baron when his allies gun jammed. flying to his friends rescue Brown shot down the red baron which gave him hope and gave all the other allies hope and morale -
finally some peace
after the war the league of nations made germany sign the treaty of versailles where germany was blamed for the war because they started the use of the deadly weopons of gas and they never fought fair. -
league of nations.
to try and prevent another world war everyone joined the league of nations were they agree to co-operate together and try and find solutions before war started.and we became our own country.
