    Nat Turner's rebellion
    Nat Turner, A slave, and a group of slaves went from plantation to plantation killing white people. Later on the militia came. In the end 57 white people were killed and 100 black were killed. Nat turner went into hiding, but he was captured and hanged. More laws were made to forbid slaves from religous meetings unless there was a white person. It also prevented slaves from learning to read and write.

    The Compromise of 1850 was a law that caused washington DC stop selling slaves but the South payed texas to leave Mexico and join the South and California Joined the North as a free state. After all of this The South made the Fugitive Slave act even more strict, but the North thought that it was to harsh and slaves still escaped from the south

    Kansas-Nebraska Act
    Kansas and Nebraska were going to become states and the states would vote if it would be free or would have slavery. The people with slavery won by a lot because many of them came to vote from other places so Kansas would become a slave state. This made the north upset because they thought it wasnt fair that a lot of the South's voters came from other states. kansas turned into a battle ground over wether it would become a free state or a sleve state. In the end Kansas became a free state.

    Sued for his freedom. He was in Illinoiswhere his owner visited often. slavery was illegal in Illinois and the court said that slaves had no right to claim their freedom. This reduced the diplomacy or negotiations that could have prevented war.
