    Ancient Mesopotamia started around 5500 B.C. hunter gatherers started to farm between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. Over thousands of years, a few of the early villages turned into complex societies.

    Ancient India

    During this time city-states began to arise as hunter-gatherers began to settle down and farm. These ancient farms began to come together in communities and forming their own from of government.

    The First Humans in the Americas (Maya, Olmec)

    The Maya lived in Meso-America. Their peak was around 250 A.D. and declined around 900 A.D. These 650 years are called the Maya Classic Period. The Olmec also lived in Meso-America. Their civilization was from 1400 B.C. to 400 B.C.

    (Ancient Egypt) Middle Kingdom Begins

    The pharaohs moved the capital from Memphis to Thebes. A woman pharaoh Hatshepsut extended Egyptian influence by sponsoring huge trade expeditions.

    Early Chinese Civilization (Ancient China)

    The first rulers were probably the Xia Dynasty.The Xia Dynasty ruled from about 2000 B.C. to about 1500 B.C. Before this time, Huang He Vally's rich soil attracted many people.

    Ancient Greece

    Ancient Greece was both Athens and Sparta. In Sparta, men were trained from age 7 to be warriors, and did not much else. Almost no one knew anything be sides how to fight. The government had wanted to keep them from knowing stuff that could have lead to questioning of the government. While Athens, every boy went to school and lurned important stuff. Girls, though, usually stayed at home with their mothers to lurn house hold chores, very few girls ever went to school.

    Ancient Israel (Jericho and Judaism)

    Early Judaism took place in Ancient Israel. In the Hebrew Bible, it says that a man named Abraham brought people from Mesopataimia to land east of the Mediterranean sea.

    Ancient Rome

    Ancient Rome was and still is a lot like Ancient Greece. Bothe Rome and Greece believe in the same Gods, they just have different names. Women had very little rights. Romans liked to concur their neighbors and loved to expand their empire. They had a very good army. Just like every good empire, it fell in 550 A.D.

    Ancient Christianity

    Jesus went to Jerusalem for Passover. He was latte crucified and died. He was then resurrected and ascended to heaven. After this, his disciples then created Christianity. The Romans then persecuted the Christians for no valid and good reason and Christians had to hide in catacombs.
