  • The Japanese Invasion of China

    The Japanese Invasion of China
On July 1937, the Japanese army invaded and captured the former imperial capital of Beiping. They did this because China had boycotted all trading with Japan. The Japanese were angry because China and Korea were the closest countries they had to trade with. So they attacked and after 3 months of fighting, captured Shanghai. Then they pushed on through and captured the capital, Nanking, But the Chinese continued resisting. CITE:wikipedia.org Pic:http://histclo.com/imagef/date/2007/09/chinat-cub3

The Battle of Pearl Harbor was an unannounced military strike on the US base of Pearl Harbor by Japan on December 7th, 1941. This caused the US to go into WWII, mainly against the Japanese. Japan did this mainly to stop US Pacific fleets going into the Pacific. 353 planes, flown from 6 aircraft carriers, bombed the base. Almost everything was destroyed and 2400 people died. Tons of other physical acts of abuse were committed and prisoners were forced to march weeks without food or water. 11,000 died. • The Doolittle Raid

    The Doolittle Raid
The Doolittle Raid was the 1st US revenge air raid on the Japan mainland. It was launched April 18th, 1942 and was led by Lieutnant Colonel James Doolittle. The reason for the raid was to cause confusion in the "invulnerable" Japanese, and to raise the broken American morale. 16 bombers bombed Japanese military targets. All aircraft were lost. 13 crews came back. Not very effective but helped morale. CITE:http://en.wikipedia.org Pic:http://www.olive-drab.com/images/doolittle_raid_05_700.jpg
  • The Battle of Midway

    The Battle of Midway
Between 4 and 7 June 1942, the US Navy defeated the Imperial Japanese Army.
The Japanese were trying to trap US aircraft carriers, but were too assumptive of the US reaction. Also, the US codebreakers found out the date and time of the trap.
The US beat almost all of the Japanese ships, and when the Japanese were having to retreat, the US were charging right on through. It was a big win.

  • Guadalcanal

    Guadalcanal
Guadalcanal was fought between August 7, 1942 and February 9, 1943, and was the 1st major attack on Japan.
Their plan was to go to the island of Guadalcanal on the Solomon Islands, and deny the Japanese' usage of the islands. They outnumbered the Japanese. Took the Henderson Airfield on Guadalcanal. The Japanese tried to take back Guadalcanal. 3 land battles, 5 naval battles, and almost daily aerial ones took place until Japan lost. CITE:wikipedia.org PIC:media-2.web.britannica.com
  • Iwo Jima

    Iwo Jima
This is the battle in which the US went in and captured the 2 airfields at Iwo Jima from Japan on February 19 – March 26, 1945. The Japanese were well defended, but the US had lots of soldiers and unloaded a lot of firepower. It was the 1st actual assault on Japan. They started the battle with 18,000 soldiers and left it with only 216 captured, the rest dead or missing. The US well outnumbered the Japanese in everthing so they couldn't lose. • The Dropping of Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki

The Dropping of Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
August 6th, 1945, the US dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. 70,000 civilians died because of the bomb, and another 70,000 died of radiation years later. This sent Japan straight out of the war. The war was over after that and Japan had lost. Basically the same thing happened in Nagasaki. The war was won but I don't think anyone liked winning it that way.
