    1600 BC-1050 BC
    Kings: King Tang (1st king of Shang Dynasty), King Pan Geng (1st king of Golden Age), King Wu Ding (longest rule-59 years), King Zhou (last ruler before ovethrown and committed suicide)
    Inventions: Created first writing system, artifacts such as bronze containers, axes, and knives, invented calendar based on the cycles of the moon
    Significant Events: Since they made so much bronze, there was a time called the Bronze Age.

  • Zhou Dynasty

    1100 BC-221 BC
    Important kings/leaders/people: Confucious (founded Confucianism), Loazi (founded Taiosm or Daoism), King Wu (1st Zhou king)
    Inventions/discoveries:Mandate of Heaven(idea that the heavens choose the ruler of China), introduced the use of iron to China replacing bronze as the most popular metal, new political order known as feudalism
  • Qin Dynasty

    221 BC-206 BC
    Kings:Emperor Shi Huangdi
    Inventions-built the Great Wall, system of laws that applied to all China, new system of money that all Chinese used, large network of roads and canals
  • Han Dynasty

    205 BC-220 AD
    Kings: Emperor Liu Bang ( 1st peasent to rise to emperor of Han Dynasty), Emperor Wudi (Strict, made Confucianism very popular)
    Inventions: Created many works of art, literature and history, paper, sundial, seismograph, accupuncture, and known for poetry
  • Sui Dynasty

    589 AD- 618 AD
    Kings: Yang Jian ( 1st emperor of Sui Dynasty), Emperor Wen
    Inventions: Invented the Grand Canal ( A canal linking northern and southern China), as well as made Buddhism popular
  • Tang Dynasty

    618 AD- 907 AD
    Kings:Emperor Wu (Only women emperor ever)
    Importent Events and Inventions: Conquered many lands, reformed military,and created a new set of uniform laws
  • Song Dynasty

    960 AD- 1279 AD
    Kings: Emperor Taizu (1st emperor)
    Important Events and Inventions: Invented gunpowder, helped create a vibrant social life with the spread of literature, paper money, created first permament navy, and developed a thin, beautiful type of pottery called porcelain
