Telephone in 1880
Only four years after the first telephone call there were over 60,000 telephones. This telephone however had no direct dialing system so you had to tell the operator who you wanted to talk to and they knew everyone in town. -
The first coin telephone
In 1900 the first coin telephone was installed in Hartford, Connecticut. This allowed people to insert money into the phone then talk to whomever they wished to speak. -
The first long distance call
On january 25, 1915 the first call from New York to San Francisco was made by Alexander Graham Bell and Andrew A. Watson. It took 14,000 miles of copper wire and 130,000 telephone poles to link New York and San Francisco and they talked for 23 minutes. -
The current telephone
This telephone is one of the most current of our time period. Telephones have progesseed a lot since they were first invented. Now we can call people from around the world and the telephone doesn't even need a cord. We also now have caller ID to see who is calling us and voicemails so people can leave messeges
