    Russian Revolution
    The Russian Revolution of 1905 marked a turning point in government setup in Russia. Directly after the revolution a parliment, State Duma, was set up, however the czar at the time resisted the movement to place him in a constitutional monarchy. This would only last until 1917.
  • Creation of the Communist Party

    Creation of the Communist Party
    The creation of the communist party in Russia, marked a huge milestone. The communist movement had appeal to many of the citizens who had been in the lower classes of the czar system.
    Because of this the movement recived enormous support and gained hundreds of members within a few short years.
  • Bolshevik Revolution

    Bolshevik Revolution
    On this day, the Romonov Dynasty was shattered. A provisional government was put in place of the fallen autocracy. From this point the Communist movement and the Anti-Communist White movement began to make their bids for power in Russia.
  • Lenin's New Economic Policy

    Lenin's New Economic Policy
    In the end the Communist party won out and a few years past. Under the lead Vladimir Lenin, Russia began to prosper and rebuild after the dismay of WWII. In 1921 Lenin enacted a Capitalistic economic policy to strengthen Russia's base and bring capital in. This succeded but nearly instituted a capitalistic economy in Russia for good.

    Because the Boshevik party, finally beat out the Anti-Communisim White party, they went ahead and made a union with several other countries to form the USSR. The largest group of countries to ever do such a thing.
    This change the face of Russia for nearly eighty years, as the Communists attempted to build a nation of socialism.

    Stalin's Five Year Plan
    Stalin's five year plan was first implemented in the year of 1928. The plan was to completely revoke Lenin's capitalistic policy and to make a powerful, industrial, Russia. Stalin wanted to "catch up" to other countries and even once said, "We are fifty or a hundred years behind the advanced countries. We must make good this distance in ten years. Either we do it, or they will crush us." This policy rocketed Russia forward but it also would put strains on their economy in the future.

    Cuban Missile Crisis Begins
    Between the 14th and the 28th of October the United States and the USSR were at a cross roads.
    The Soviet Union, realizing the mutany between Cuba and the U.S. decided to show just how powerful they had become. By becoming allies with Cuba they were able to set up missiles that were only 90miles off the coast of Florida.
    Though the crisis ended peacefully Russia definately caught the world by storm and held its attention.
  • Glasnost and Perestroika Policies

    Glasnost and Perestroika Policies
    The Glasnos and Perestroika policys of President Gorbachev, are agreed by many scholars, as two of the vital reasons the USSR and the Communist party fell.
    These two policy were meant to open and reconstruct Russia's government and to allow new ideas to feed into the party. However, this made the party and the government suseptable to attacks and brought about the major turmoil of the 1990's.

    The events leading up the the second Russian Revolution are just as important as the actual event. The President of the USSR, Gorbachev, was about to sign a "New Union Treaty" that would loosen the union between the USSR's states.
    Because of this a coup was formed, and in August of 1991 they moved to take Gorbachev from power before he could sign the treaty. This act brought about the dissolving of the USSR and the beginnings of a Federation of Russia.

    Democracy Of Russia is Implemented
    About half a year after the Communist party fell and the USSR dissolved, the Federation of Russia was formed and created it's constitiution. By nature it is supposed to be a closely linked to Democracy, unfortunately this is a huge step from the Communist control so change seems to be moving slowly in Russia, just as it always has.
  • End of Communist Party

    End of Communist Party
    The Communist party toppled from power right around the time Gorbachev did. Because the party was slowly becoming obsolete Gorbachev tried to institute new laws to help Communism move forward, unfortuantely for all his efforts he did not succeed and the party slowly crumbled.

    Russian Stock Market Crash
    The Russian Stock Market crashed in 1998 because of a declining productivity and the huge deficit Russia had stacked up. Because of this crash Russia had to devalue the ruble and default on it's debt causing massive shocks and hits to the buisness and working sectors in Russia.
