    Hubble Telescope Launched
On April 24, 1990, Hubble launched a space shuttle called the Hubble Telescope. Astronomers have always planned to look further and deeper into space. The Hubble Telescope was made to look over planet Earth even further. The space shuttle is named after astronomer Edwin Hubble. Edwin Hubble says that the universe extended past just the Milky Way Galaxy.
  • Hubble Telescope 2

The Hubble telescope being launchd changed the course of history. Because of the Hubble being launched, several space missions have been accomplished. Technology would be behind if the space shuttle was not launched. We would not know what is beyond Earth. We wouldn't know exactly what is in outer space. Many people thought Earth was the center of the universe. The telescope showed that Earth is not the center of the universe. The Hubble Telescope didn't only tell us where we are located.
  • Hubble Telescope 3

It also found different features in space. Different planets were discovered and craters on the moon were also seen. The temperature and weather on these planets could be determined from the Hubble Telescope. Before telescopes, we never knew for sure what was out there. The universe was known by myths or beliefs that weren't proven. With the Hubble Telescope, we can detect more and more objects in space.
  • Hubble Telescope 4

The Hubble is responsible for beaming thousands of images back to Earth. This space shuttle is one of NASA's most successful missions. If we didn't have telescopes like the Hubble Telescope, our view on the universe would be completely different. All we relied on was myths or beliefs that could be completely wrong and crazy. We know have factual evidence of what life outside of Earth is like. Hubble has sent the pictures proving existence in space.
  • Hubble Telescope 5

The launch of Hubble was a very positive impact for astronomers and everyone really. I wouldn't change anything about the Hubble Telescope. Technology would be behind if it weren't for telescopes. Everyone's view on the universe changed and we had the proof we needed for technology and information on what is going on around our world. I would like to be alive before and after the space shuttle was launched in 1990 because I would like to know what is was like to believe that the universe is -

completely different than it actually is.
  • Rodney King-Los Angeles Riots

    Rodney King-Los Angeles Riots
On April 29, 1992 four Los Angeles police officers were acquitted of the use of excessive force in the videotaped arrest and beating of Rodney King. Rodney King was a taxi driver who was beaten by police officers following a car chase. A witness videotaped the event and sent the footage to a news station. The footage shows four officers repeatedly striking King. Four officers were charged with assault with a deadly weapon. They were also charged with the use of excessive force.

Within hours of the acquittals, the Los Angeles riots started. These riots lasted for 6 days.
  • Rodney King 3

The Rodney King trial and aftermath was unique in many ways. First of all 55 people were killed and 2,000 were injured. The California National Guard had to be called in for the rioting, looting, and arson to stop. This led to the federal government obtaining grand jury indictments for King's civil rights. This resulted in many riots and controversy. Many people died during the riots. Rodney King would become a symbol of police brutality after he was found dead in his swimming pool two decades-

later. This was important to history because it was an important civil rights movement. It was not fair what happened to Rodney King. He was beaten because of the color of his skin, and the police officers got away with it.
  • Rodney King 6

Because of the Rodney King trials and riots, the way police officers and minorities are treated is different. People are aware that King was innocent. Minorities like Rodney King would be treated better and police brutality would be cautioned. Police wouldn't get away with using their force incorrectly. Police do not have unlimited power and they can't do whatever they want.
  • Rodney King 7

I really would not want to attend this event. If I was there though, I would have tried to talk to people about finding a peaceful solution and to stop the rioting. I feel that civil rights is an important topic, and anyone that can bring an awareness to this topic deserves a great deal of credit.
