    The Poverty of the Farmers

    After a time of extreme profit the demand for products reduced. The prices of their products also lowered greatly. They stopped making money and they were unable to pay loans they had made. Also, their soil had been exhausted. They were already in poverty before the Great Depression, and were one of the factors that lead to the Great Depression.
  • National Origins Act

    The National Origins Act was made to limit the amount of immigrants entering the United States. This act was a more complete version of the Emergency Immigration Act that was passed three years earlier.
  • Stock Market Drop

    Ten billion dollars in investments were lost in a few hours. This war later stabilized with the help of J.P. Morgan, but even then it fell. Although this crash only affected 2.5% of Americans, it exposed many key factors that resulted in the Great Depression.
  • Monkey Trial- Creation versus Evolution Debate

    After John Scopes taught about the evolution theory in a school, a violation of the Butler Act, there was a large dispute about the constitutionality of the law. Clarence Darrow defended the evolutionary side of the trial against William Jennings Bryan. Although John Scopes was declared guilty, it was considered a victory for the modernists.
  • Lindbergh Flies Across the Atlantic

    Considered to be the "hero of the decade" Lindbergh lived at a time in which Americans were seeking heroes. He broke boundaries by being the first person to fly across the Atlantic Ocean, from New York to Paris, without stopping.
  • Smooth-Hawley Tariff

    President Hoover signed the Smooth-Hawley Tariff with the intention of increasing the purchase of national products instead of imported products. However this resulted in an increase of tariff walls throughout the world. This lessened the amount of exportation the United States made, making the Great Depression even worse.

    The New Deal were a series of acts and projects that were led by President Roosevelt to attempt to restore the American economy. It consisted in providing for the people and trough that give jobs to Americans. It reshaped America.
  • Beginning of World War II

    The Second World War began when German troops invaded Poland. Britain and France declared war on Germany because its actions.
  • Battle of Britain

    Lasting over three months, The Battle of Britain consisted in Germany starting operation Sea Lion to invade Britain. It an invasion that consisted in having air superiority over Britain. The German Luftwaffe had many more planes than the Britain's Royal Air Force, but the Royal Air Force was still able to prevail over the Germans.
  • Pear Harbor Attack

    Japan had feared and suspected that the United States would join the war inevitably. Their plan was to attack Pearl Harbor destroying enough of the American navy to impede American involvement for another few years. The United States declared War on the entire Axis two days later after losing 2,400 people from the attack.
