Routine Cancer Screenings for John Bomkamp

  • Testicular Cancer Screenings

    Testicular Cancer Screenings
At age 15, I began screening for testicular cancer. This includes regular check ups at yearly physicals and self-examinations. If lumps are felt on the testes, a doctor should be consulted
  • Skin Cancer Screenings

    Skin Cancer Screenings
At age 20, I will begin to regularly examine my skin for abnormal discolorations. If an abnormal discoloration is found, I would consult my doctor. He may choose to perform a biopsy to determine whether or not the cells are cancerous.
  • Cancer-related Check-Ups

    Cancer-related Check-Ups
At age 20, I will opt to have my doctor perform a cancer-related check-up. This includes tests to find cancers of the thyroid, oral cavity, skin, lymph nodes, and testes.
  • Breast Cancer Screening

    Breast Cancer Screening
Although males have little risk of developing this cancer, I would schedule a mammogram at age 40 for precaution. I would then continue to feel my breasts periodically for lumps.
  • Colon Cancer Screening

    Colon Cancer Screening
At age 50, I will schedule a colonoscopy to find and eliminate any cancerous polyps. This preventive procedure will be completed every 5-10 years depending on how many polyps are found during the initial colonoscopy.
  • Prostate Cancer Screenings

    Prostate Cancer Screenings
At age 50, I will begin screening for prostate cancer. Tests are performed every two years to check for prostate cancer for those who do not have a high risk of prostate cancer. If results show prostate cancer is likely, tests could occur every year or six months.
