Since the Congress of Vienna, the Austrian Empire had goals against the tiberal forces. bY the 1840's factories were forming faster. The Hapsburgs were having many problems with the industrial life. -
Ottaman Empire
In the mid 1800's europeans came to divide the Ottoman Empire. many of people revolted against the Ottomans. The Russians were fighting many wars against the Ottoman. Britain and France claimed Ottoman lands. Greece won its independence. -

In 1815 the German Confederation was made by the congress of Viennia. Germany was not a single nation. Germany was ruled by the Austrian hapsburg. -

nationalists created secret socities to expell Austrian forces, because of the result of the French Burbon leader being put in charge of Naples and Sicily. The Austrin troops crushed the societies each time a revolt happened. -

The Hapsburg ingored the deamands. These demands came from the nationalist. soon they revolted the government. The government crushed the nationalist. -

nationalist took over Veince's arsenal. They declared the Republic of Venice. The success was short. Veince was once again under Austria's rule. -
Prime Minister
Count Camillo cavour was made prime minister by Victor Emmanuel. He then moved to reform sardinia's economy. He supported free trade, built railroads, and improved farming methods. -
Deal with Napoleon
Prime Minister Cavour made a deal with Napoleon. He promised to help Sardinia if a war would happen with Austria. -
War with austria
Cavour provoked a war with Austria. France helped out. He deafeated Austria. Sardinia annexed Lombardy. -
Cavour died
Cavour died this year. his dream was completed though. Italy formed an alliance during the Austro-Prussian War with Prussia. Italy won the province of Venitia. -
Chancellor
King William I of Prussia made himself Prime Minister. In about 10 years he made himself chancellor. Chancellor is the highest official of a monarch. -
Bismark's First Act
First, Bismark formed an alliance with Austria. -
Bismarks 2nd Act
Austria and Denmark invaded Demark. Demark lost provines of Schleswig and Holstein to Prussia and Austria. Austria then toook control over Holstein and Prussia took control over Schleswig. -
Bismarks 3rd Act
Bismark attacked Austria. The seven week long war, ended with the victory of Prussia. Prussia took over many of Germany's nortern states. -
new Political Power
in 1866 Prussia defeated Austria in war. In 1867, Fernec Deak made a compromise bewteen the Austrians and the Hangarians. It created a new political power. It was called the Dual Monarchy. The Dual Monarchy made Austria and Hungary seperate states. The states shared many things like, ministries of fnance, and foreign affairs. Francis Joseph ruled the two states. -
Ems Dispatch
In 1870 the Franco-Prussian War broke out. Bismark edited the "Ems Dispatch" making it look like like William I insulted them. France was defeated. Germany was Europe's dominant power. -
Kaiser
William I beacme Kaiser, emperor. The birth of the second empire was celebrated. Bismark drafted a constitution made up of a two house system. The Bundesrat, upper house was appointed by the rulers of Germany, and could veto the lower class, Reichstag. The emperor and his chancellor had the power in their own hands. -
Kulturkampf
The battle of civilization (Kulturkampf) was started by Bismark. He wanted members of the Catholic Church to put loyalty to the state before the Church. -
German Government
After 1871 the German government promoted economic development. It issued a single currency, organized the banking system, and designed railroads. -
End of Kulturkampf
The battle of civilization (Kulturkampf) ended. After all the Kulturkampf made the Catholic Church stronger than it was before. -
Death of Kaiser
In 1888 Kaiser William I died. -
kaiser William II
Kaiser William II took over. He was Kaiser William I grandson. Kaiser William II took over after Kaiser William's I death. -
Resign as Chancellor
Otto van Bismark was asked by Kaiser William II to resign as the chancellor. Kaiser William II did not want to be in the shadow of Bismark.
