    Introduction to the timeline

    Introduction to the timeline
I'm a fan of Bethesda and the Elder Scrolls saga. I guess that goes without saying. While playing Skyrim, I often found myself thinking: why hasn't there been an industrial revolution? There are thousands of Dwemer contraptions lying around. Has no one thought to reverse-engineer any of it? Magic is fine and dandy, but it won't bring mass production nor functioning cars. You'd have to have an industrial revolution for that. Industrial revolution... in Tamriel? It's more likely than you think.

    Things to keep in mind

    Things to keep in mind
Before you read this timeline, keep some things in mind:
    1) This is a 18+ timeline. Reason? Occasional strong or offensive language. Also, occasional pictures of corpses and terrible war crimes. This timeline gets a bit dark sometimes.
    2) It's fairly long.
    3) The pacing of this timeline varies wildly. The first timelines are pretty sparse, while the last are very detailed.

    Additional information

    Additional information
    5) This timeline is influenced by real world history.
    6) This timeline features a lot of details. It features new books, an unique periodic table, new political belief systems, an Aedric general relativity theory, maps of haplotypes and Tamriel-specific political ideologies. I've tried my best to make all these details easily understandable.

    What this timeline is

    What this timeline is
This timeline is my attempt to bring the world of Tamriel into modernity. Not everything is modernized, however. Magic will not be forgotten, and the Aedra/Daedra will make themselves ~very~ present. This timeline is meant to offer food for thought. This timeline features a fair amount of humor. It's about 95% serious and 5% tongue-in-cheek.

    What this timeline isn't

    What this timeline isn't
This timeline is not an 100% accurate representation of the lore of Tamriel. It won't break any long-standing rules of the lore, but I've made some changes. This timeline isn't some sort of a wishy-washy "oh-man-everyone-will-live-happily-ever-after" fantasy. I researched for this, believe me. It's oriented towards details, realism and information. The years from 5E 240 to 5E 290 are especially dark and cruel.

    "The Vanquisher"

    "The Vanquisher"
At the very end of this timeline, a massive genocidal attack will be launched on Tamriel. "The Vanquisher" is my attempt at creating a new Elder Scrolls game. I know, it sounds pretty stupid.
"The Vanquisher" consists of three acts. It's pretty long. It's meant to be a bookend of sorts. It's supposed to place you, my ~dear~ reader, into modern Tamriel. I just felt like it would be a waste if I wrote all this history and didn't include an epic story.

    Credits

    Credits
This timeline uses a lot of pictures to portray people and events. They are mostly from public domain or licensed under Creative Commons. Attributions are included in the very last timeline, titled "Credits + additional information + statistics". Sadly, I couldn't credit every picture I used, as some of them were untraceable.

    Audiovisual material

    Audiovisual material
Belethor's Uncanonical Tamrielic Timeline contains occasional videos, meant to provide atmosphere and/or enjoyment. There are seven of these things in total. They are unlisted and can be accessed only through this timeline. They might show ads, I'm sorry for that. Apparently, Youtube monetized them for me. If you have to sit through ads, I apologize. If you use a ~blocking app~ to rid yourself of ads, you're in the clear.

    Prerequisites

    Prerequisites
Belethor's Uncanonical Tamrielic Timeline expects its readers to have rudimentary knowledge of the lore of Elder Scrolls. A few playthroughs of either Skyrim, Oblivion or Morrowind will probably be sufficient. If you've read UESPWiki/Elder Scrolls Wikia for a few hours and have an understanding of Tamrielic history/religions, then you're absolutely 100% set. Also, knowledge of Tamrielic cities and provinces is important.

    !VERY IMPORTANT!

    !VERY IMPORTANT!
This site, Timetoast, has two ways to read timelines. Please read this timeline as a list. When you open a timeline, it automatically shows it as a "timeline". Please use your pointing device to move the slider below and read it as a list, as shown in the picture above. It's meant to be read as a "list", believe me. If you read it as a "timeline", many events will either change their place or disappear entirely. It's super-duper important to read it as a list.

    Without further ado

    Without further ado
Let's begin, shall we? This timeline will start in the year of 4E 0. It will end in the year of 6E 0.
Prepare yourself for a long read ;)
